Blake Family Wines
is a family-run boutique winery in the coastal town of Yzerfontein on South Africa's west coast. Andries and Marinda Blake combine many years of experience in the wine industry with a close connection to Swartland and its vineyards.
Andries Blake has worked as a winemaker in Swartland since 1995 and has known the region's different sites for many years. For his wines he selects grapes from chosen vineyards in the heart of Swartland. He places particular emphasis on blends in which the characteristics of different grape varieties complement one another to create complex, balanced wines.
The range is divided into the premium Blake’s line and the more easy-going 16 Mile Beach range. Key wines include the red Amethyst blend of Shiraz, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the white Tourmaline made from Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier. The line is complemented by Chenin Blanc from dry-farmed bush vines and a Malbec from a single vineyard.
The 16 Mile Beach range is named after the long sandy beach at Yzerfontein. It includes the red Blomtuin blend of Pinotage, Shiraz and Malbec, the white Swemgat blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and Rooipan Rosé made from Pinotage. The wines are fruit-driven, approachable and versatile.
Blake Family Wines stands for small production volumes, carefully selected grapes and a wine character that reflects the warmth and individuality of Swartland. Discover selected Blake family wines at Vin Africa from one of South Africa's most exciting wine regions.
