David & Nadia

is a small, family-run premium producer from the Paardeberg in South Africa's Swartland. The winery is run by David and Nadia Sadie. David studied viticulture and oenology, while Nadia focused on soil science and viticulture. They produced their first wine in 2010.

The producer belongs to the generation of winemakers that established Swartland internationally as a source of high-quality, terroir-driven wines.

The focus is on old, unirrigated bush vines on poor soils. The individual vineyards vary between granite, shale and iron-rich clay soils. David & Nadia work exclusively with grapes from Swartland and are members of the Swartland Independent Producers.

In the vineyard they aim for organic farming. In the cellar they intervene as little as possible. Spontaneous fermentation, old neutral wooden barrels, concrete vessels and restrained use of sulphur are not intended to impose a particular flavour on the wine. Instead, origin, soil, vine age and vintage should remain recognisable. The style is therefore more fresh, mineral and precise than opulent or heavily influenced by oak.
