J.C. Le Roux
is situated in the picturesque Devon Valley near Stellenbosch and is entirely dedicated to the production of South African sparkling wines. The house was founded in 1982 and was the first South African winery to focus exclusively on sparkling wine.
The range includes dry, off-dry and fruit-forward sweet sparkling wines for different tastes. Well-known bottlings such as Le Domaine, La Fleurette, La Chanson and Sauvignon Blanc are characterised by a lively, approachable style and pronounced fruit. The selection is complemented by the off-dry sparkling wines of the Nectar range as well as alcohol-free alternatives.
With Scintilla, J.C. Le Roux also produces a classic Cap Classique made predominantly from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle. The wine then matures on the lees for 36 months, developing fine bubbles, fresh citrus notes and a balanced character.
The name of the house commemorates the French Huguenot and winegrower Jean le Roux, who settled in Stellenbosch at the beginning of the 18th century and planted vines there. J.C. Le Roux thus combines the region's long winemaking tradition with a modern and versatile range of sparkling wines.
