Kleine Zalze wines from Stellenbosch

Kleine Zalze is one of the well-known wineries of South Africa's Stellenbosch wine region. The history of the estate dates back to 1695. Its modern development began in 1996, when the Basson family took over the property, renovated the cellar and replanted the vineyards. Today, Kleine Zalze combines this long tradition with contemporary viticulture and a clear focus on high-quality, approachable wines.

The vineyards lie on varied soils, elevations and slopes. Fresh air currents from the Atlantic, around 15 kilometres away, provide moderate temperatures and slow grape ripening. Around 120 hectares on the estate itself are planted with vines. Kleine Zalze uses sustainable methods in the vineyard and follows the standards of South Africa's IPW programme for environmentally responsible wine production.

Kleine Zalze is particularly well known for expressive white wines such as Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The range also includes characterful reds made from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Grenache. The different wine ranges extend from the uncomplicated Cellar Selection through the more complex Vineyard Selection to the limited Family Reserve. Traditional South African sparkling wines in the Cap Classique category complete the offering.

Kleine Zalze wines stand for clear fruit, balanced freshness and a style suited both to a relaxed evening and a good meal. Discover the diversity of this historic winery and get to know some of Stellenbosch's typical grape varieties.
