Bright lemon yellow in the glass with a lime-coloured rim. The nose shows intense ripe Hanepoot grapes, Muscat d'Alexandrie, pineapple, lemon peel, lychee and winter melon, mingled with a hint of jasmine, honey and light spice. Deliciously sweet on the palate and packed with fresh sultanas, honey, lychee, melon, fig leaves, lemon and lime marmalade, supported by lively acidity and persistent notes of citrus peel and subtle minerality. Vinification:
The low-yielding Hanepoot grapes, planted more than thirty years ago by Oupa Danie Nel, the winemaker's father, were hand-harvested at optimum ripeness and naturally fermented during a four-day fermentation with manual punch-downs every four hours before being fortified with grape spirit. The resulting Hanepoot was stored in stainless-steel tanks for six months before bottling.
 
Food pairing:
Spicy Indian or Thai dishes, roast duck, pork, fruit desserts, Malva pudding and mild soft cheese. Also as an aperitif or digestif.
