A powerful Bordeaux blend from Stellenbosch with dark plum, blackcurrant, sour cherry and tobacco on the nose. On the palate, John X Merriman is medium-bodied with clear structure and present tannins that become finer with further bottle ageing. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot give the wine its classic line, while Petit Verdot and Malbec add spice, depth and dark fruit.
 
Vinification:
20 months of maturation in French oak barrels. 35% of the barrels were new barriques, complemented by second- and third-fill barrels.

Braised beef dishes, lamb, game, mature hard cheese and rich mushroom dishes.
