Spier Frans K. Smit Red 2018 from Spier Wines comes from Stellenbosch. This red wine combines dark fruit, spice and a structured style with a distinctly South African character. The blend is made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.
 
Vinification:
The hand-picked and selected grapes are crushed and fermented in 500-litre barrels and small stainless-steel tanks. The wine remains on the lees for three to six weeks and then matures for around 24 months in small French oak barrels.

beef, lamb, game dishes and mature hard cheese.
