A classic South African Pinotage with juicy fruit and pleasant spice. Deep cherry red in the glass. The nose shows fresh red and dark berries, cherry and a hint of coconut, accompanied by pepper, vanilla, leather and fine tobacco. Fresh and balanced on the palate with lively cherry fruit, moderate tannins and subtle smokiness on the finish. An approachable yet structured Pinotage with typical character. Winemaker: Frans Smit
 
Vinification:
The vines are planted north to south, protecting the grapes from intense afternoon sun and allowing balanced ripening. Harvest takes place at optimum ripeness. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures of no more than 25 °C to preserve freshness and fruit. 40% of the wine matures in French and American oak barrels, while the remainder is matured in stainless steel. The targeted use of oak gives the wine structure and subtle vanilla notes without masking the fruit.
 
Food pairing:
Classic burger, crispy roast turkey, suckling pig with fruity barbecue sauce, roasted aubergines and white chocolate with coconut notes.
