Stellekaya Winery is located in the old KWV brandy distillery which was transformed into a Wine Village known as Bosman's Crossing in 2002. Stellekaya is a passionately run and family owned winery specialising in the production of premium quality red wines. Owners Dave and Jane Lello source grapes from prime growers in the Stellenbosch region and today have an exceptional range of wines that exemplify the typicity of Stellenbosch terroir.

Stellekaya, meaning "home of the stars", was derived from a play on three languages. Stelle is Italian for stars, whilst kaya is the word for home in isiXhosa and isiZulu.

Winemaker Ntsiki Biyela, excelled in science at school and went on to qualify at Stellenbosch University in Oenology. Ntsiki joined Stellekaya in 2004 an is passionate about red wine. She was voted Woman Winemaker of the year in the Landbouweekblad publication soon after joining Stellekaya.

Maiden vintages for Stellekaya wines were produced in 1999 where to this day traditional and natural methods of production have been incorporated. Minimal pumping of fruit is practised whilst striving to achieve maximum flavour extraction during fermentation. Fermentation is started in open micro-fermenters and completed in French oak barrels where wines are aged for 12 to 24 months.

Label design for all the wines of Stellekaya incorporate constellation drawings made by reknowned astronomer Jan Hevelius of Poland, in keeping with Stellekaya's theme of the stars.
