product description

On Friday, June 24th, we will be hosting again a wine tasting with the Dornier winery at 7 p.m. as a zoom meeting. Francois Theunissen joins in live from South Africa via zoom and presents 6 exciting wines that you can order as a tasting package beforehand.

With the order of the trial package, you will receive the link to the zoom tasting a few days in advance and the recording of the tasting afterwards so that you can repeat it at any time. You will learn a lot of new things from South Africa, the winery and the wines, of course.

This time we are adding the innovative product "Weinluft" from a young start-up from Nuremberg, which you can use to preserve the opened wines for weeks.

Being a truly versatile variety and lending itself very well to many different styles, we have aimed at making a fresh and primary fruit driven approach. Flavours of white peach, pear and golden delicious apples dominate the nose. The palate is vibrant with a soft acidity, leaving one with a concentrated aftertaste. Bright, pale straw colour with delicate scent of wild flowers and fruit, especially Cape Honeysuckle. White peaches and pineapples with a delicate underlying minerality. The palate fully matches the nose with a creamy sensation and a texture that combines elegance and intensity and concentrated fruit flavours. On first impressions this wine has an attractive golden colour. The nose is bursting with flavours of lemon rind, fresh hay, caramelised apple and honey. The palate is rich in flavours of quince, lemon meringue and brioche, with a luscious full texture backed by a well-balanced acidity and lingering aftertaste.

This is a full bodied and aromatic wine with hints of raspberry, mulberry and aromatic spices. On the pallet the wine is concentrated with richness and structure. The tannins are fine, ripe and creamy and in balance with the fruit. The wine has a long finish. This wine is a true reflection of Tinta Barocca from old vines in the Swartland. This wine is intense ruby-red in colour. Aromas of ripe plum and fresh cherry with subtle hints of forest floor. A full, well-structured wine that has a great follow-through of fruit onto the palate. The wine shows elegant integration and balance with a velvety tannin finish. On Dornier the wine made from this grape with its thick-skinned berry and green flesh tends to be full and juicy with aromas of dark berries and plum with hints of violet that is typical of the varietal. The palate is rich in texture and shows characteristics of berry, dark chocolate and juicy fruit. The finish is long with a balanced acidity and fine tannin structure.

+ Weinluft for preserving
open wine bottles

With the WEINLUFT® you can protect up to 15 bottles of wine from oxidation and loss of quality for weeks. Wine air contains the non-toxic noble gas argon, which is also found in the air we breathe. It is heavier than air and covers the opened wine like a blanket. This prevents the wine from being oxidized by oxygen.
