Blaauwklippen

is one of South Africa's most historic wineries. The estate lies at the foot of the Stellenbosch Mountains and looks back on a history that began in 1682. It takes its name from the bluish shimmering granite stones found on the property and in the riverbed.

The approximately 115 hectares of vineyards lie on granite-rich soils below Stellenbosch Mountain. Limited yields and vineyard work tailored to the individual grape varieties form the basis for balanced wines with clear fruit and good structure.

Zinfandel plays a special role at Blaauwklippen. The grape variety was cultivated there as early as the 1970s and is closely connected with the winery's more recent history. Blaauwklippen was also one of the founding members of the Stellenbosch Wine Route and has hosted its own wine-blending competition since 1984.

Today's range includes Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, among others. It is complemented by a Cap Classique, Rosé and the red blend De Blaauwe Klip. Blaauwklippen thus offers both fresh white wines and more powerful, structured red wines from Stellenbosch.

Blaauwklippen combines its long history with a versatile wine range that includes classic Stellenbosch grape varieties as well as the special tradition of Zinfandel. Discover selected wines from Blaauwklippen at Vin Africa, from one of South Africa's best-known wine regions.
