In the 1990s, Johan Reyneke began converting the family estate's viticulture to organic and later biodynamic methods. His studies in philosophy at Stellenbosch University influenced this holistic approach. Central to it is the idea that soil, plants, animals and people should be viewed as an interconnected system. Today the estate is certified organic and biodynamic.

Reyneke's neighbouring vineyards are located in the Polkadraai Hills and look towards False Bay. Cooling sea air supports slow ripening and helps preserve the grapes' natural acidity. Weathered granite soils shape the vineyards and produce wines that often show clear fruit, fine spice, freshness and a firm yet elegant structure.

In the vineyard, Reyneke avoids herbicides and synthetic crop-protection products. Cover crops grow between the vine rows, loosening the soil, fixing nitrogen and providing habitat for beneficial insects. Ducks help control snails, while cattle provide manure for the estate's own compost. Biodynamic preparations and natural cycles are intended to promote soil life, biodiversity and vine resilience.

This restrained approach continues in the cellar. Reyneke works without commercially cultivated yeasts, artificial acid corrections and conventional fermentation aids. The aim is to transfer the characteristics of individual vineyards into the wine as directly as possible. Barbara Melck is responsible for winemaking, while Rüdiger Gretschel serves as Cellar Master and Johan Reyneke leads viticulture.

The range is divided into Estate, Biodynamic, Organic and Reserve ranges. Key grape varieties include Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The biodynamic line is made entirely from grapes grown in Reyneke vineyards. Reserve wines come from selected parcels and are bottled only in suitable vintages, while the Organic Range follows a more approachable, fruit-driven style.

Cornerstone occupies a special place. The initiative linked to the wine supports estate employees, among other things, in purchasing homes and educating their children. In this way Reyneke combines ecological agriculture with long-term social responsibility.
